King Threadfin and Blue Threadfin Salmon are a hard fighting fish found in the estuaries and inshore waters of Cape York.
Salmon are commonly a bottom feeding fish, using their feelers in search of crabs, worms and prawns, working gutters near areas where run-off will spill foods from flood plains, or coastal flats.
For the angler, they will take small fish, prawns and lures, and are known for their aerial efforts to throw hooks. Both of these fish are of excellent eating quality.
Salmon have a min size requirement of 40cm on the east coast.
